Hello again. It’s been a while since my last post: about three weeks in fact. Time flies when you’re short of inspiration.
In my defence, I’ve been in Richmond for the past week without an internet connection so I couldn’t have blogged even if I’d wanted to. Lynsey’s sister was on holiday and kindly let us use her flat while she was away. Richmond is a lovely place: a bit like a country village, but within the boundaries of the largest city in Europe. After a few days wallowing in the green space of suburbia, it came as a shock to the system when we eventually ventured back into central London.
Neil Diamond has also been London recently, plugging his new album Home Before Dark. We shamefully succumbed to said plugging and rushed out to buy it at the first opportunity. I’ve always found Neil Diamond to be a bit shmaltzy, but this record has a stripped-back production that focuses on the songs and Neil’s voice. It’s the same idea (in fact the same producer) as the American albums that Johnny Cash made in the latter part of his career and it really works well.
